We love you Kit Kat – and agree wholeheartedly about music. I’ve never had a favorite genre because I need different sounds when I’m in different moods.

Cheeto wishes he could be with you to cuddle when you need it. I’m sure Mom and Dad will do their best — though they aren’t as soft and fuzzy 🙂 !

Rita, very recently I stubbled upon a little notebook which I had when we studied the Mary/Martha book. (I never throw those precious things away!) Anyway, I have recorded there our prayer requests. It was April, 2008 and we were praying for Kathryn’s knee damage and therapy, etc. Of course, at that time we had no idea what the future held. I can’t help but notice these requests (for all our children for one reason or another) are right in the middle of my notes on the study and nestled among them were these verses I had to share with you. Ephesians 3:16-21, “that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height, to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be fitted with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abuundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church forever and ever.”
That is my prayer for you and your precious family. Love you!

We just returned home from an LWMS rally — where we were reminded how difficult it can be for human beings to accept God’s timing. We know that he’s a God of love, wisdom and power — and he cares for us. Though none of us welcomes it, we most often grow from adversity.

Garden stones in front of our house read, “With rain in the heart, I grow like a garden.” Rejoice that God cares for you. He is sending you rain to help you grow, not leaving you to shrivel and dry in a drought. May you thrive in the rain!

You are an amazing young woman and a beautiful example of Paul’s words to the Hebrews: “Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” Thank you for being such a light. You are an inspiration to many. Bless you. You are in our prayers.

Know that his love has no bounds and will never end. Blessings to all. The Micheels

They interviewed the gal who was “cured”, but not until after undergoing many trials and lots of pain. And so our hope continues that the Lord will grant you relief from your pain. Prayers and Blessings. Mary Micheel

    Kathryn and family,
So sorry to hear that you’ve had these additional struggles this past month or so. Kathry, very proud that you got an award at school, especially with the pain that you endure daily….it just reinforces what a strong, vibrant young woman you are! I pray that you will find some relief from the pain, and that you can have a fun, relaxing and enjoyable summer. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

  104. Hello McDonalds. You continue to be in my thoughts and prayers daily. Asking the Lord to give you all the strength and energy you will need as you go forward with the next step in Kathryn’s treatment. Remember his promise that he will never leave us or forsake us and GOD KEEPS HIS PROMISES. I enjoyed seeing you and visiting with both of you, Dave and Rita and appreciate all you do to help Pastor and Sarah. God’s continued blessings as you move forward. Mary Micheel

  105. Hello. Went to Bible Class tonight. Subject was the Lord’s Prayer, Give us this day our daily bread. A good reminder that this applies to both our physical and spiritual needs. JESUS, THE BREAD FROM HEAVEN, is there to feed our soul every day. The LORD, our god who always keeps his promises, provides what we need at the proper time (Psalm 145:15,16). We should be asking god for contentment and guidance in our daily life, trusting that he will provide us with what is best for us at any given time. He is in control. Take heart in knowing that he knows what we need and will provide. Praying for relief from pain and success of treatment for you, Kathryn. Praying for blessings and the stamina to manage daily challenges for all of you. Mary

_____Great minds think alike Mary 🙂 !!

So fun that you studied the Lord’s Prayer! My thoughts and prayers have been intent on God’s “daily bread” or His daily provision for our needs since receiving the tough news from Anthem several days ago. I began writing the July 31 update days before receiving that blow of bad news, yet I knew that I wanted to reference Matthew 6 and the Lord’s Prayer. It is precious that Jesus’ foreknowledge, His presence and His promises even comfort our thoughts in times when calm thoughts seem like an impossibility!

Your friendship and your encouragement bring me comfort and smiles- THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR LOVE!! -Rita

  106. h morgan's avatar h morgan says:

  107. Mary Michee's avatar Mary Michee says:

We will be thinking of ways to raise funds for this very worthwhile and God pleasing effort. I am sure the Lord will come through in this area as he does take care of our “daily bread”. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know. Retirement affords me the time to be able to work on things like this…and prayers, prayers, prayers. There can never be too many! We sometimes forget or hesitate to pray when God tells us in Hebrews 4:16 to “come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Thoughts and prayers go with you as you travel to Forida. Blessings to all. Mary

Kathryn, everyone I’ve talked to has just raved about your positive attitude and incredible strength, and it’s obvious they’re right as I’m reading through this blog. I’ll keep you in my prayers, and keep staying strong! You’re my hero!

    Hi Kathryn,

My name is also Kathryn and I also suffer with CRPS. Your site caught my attention because we both have the same name spelled the same too which in my experiences is rare unless you’re around 60. We both seem to have a lot in common. Ive had CRPS since August 2008. I would love to have someone to talk to who knows what I’m going through because I’ve never met anyone else who suffers from this. I want to start a support group but I’m not sure yet on how to go about it. I feel so alone sometimes even though I have so many people who love and care about me but they just can’t know what it’s really like. I’m just hoping that we can help to encourage each other and swap stories and experiences. I hope to hear from you soon! 🙂

    Sincerely,
    Kathryn

Don’t have any medical explanation for it coming or for it going. Just prayed a lot . Will ramp up the prayers for pain relief for you dear, sweet girl. And Rita, a day a time, knowing that there are many people keeping you in their thoughts and prayers every day. God will continue to watch over all of you. Blessings. Mary

I guess I will just keep thanking Him and praying that even the little pain relief continues and gets greater. God’e blessings to you all. Mary

  139. Mary Micheel's avatar Mary Micheel says:

Kathryn, hang in there, take a deep breath, sloooow down and listen to that body. We just get so excited when the pain is less that we do too much. I know it took me a few experiences to learn that very hard lesson. I have to sit out that one next activity I really want to go to, see, or participate in. I have to choose between events and try not to hurt someone’s feelings. Lots of people just can’t understand how coming to eat dinner can be exhausting or increase your pain. And, it’s exhausting to keep trying to explain. Remember that whatever you are doing, it’s your second job. Job one is your constant battle to manage the CRPS.. You are incredible to have accomplished what you have so far and our prayers include asking That God continue to give you the strength to fight this battle. Like Aaron did for Moses, your English assignment reflects that your Mom, Dad, and brother are holding up your hands through the battle. The Lord placed you with a wonderful, loving family to accomplish this. Prayers and blessings. Mary

Rita, I went to the pain clinic today for prescription refills. The PA i see said they see a number of patients with CRPS. She gave me a booklet and CD for you which I will bring along on the 24th. You and Kathryn may already be familiar with this info, but she said they have had success with this treatment. Glad to hear that Kathryn can still get around. Sorry to hear that the pain is still there. I will be going for a replacement for my defibrillator. I beep every morning at 10:00am on the dot! Just like the smoke alarm when the battery needs changing. The Cardio nurse thinks the device may be defective because I haven’t had it that long. It may be ubder warrany so….more paperwork to fill out. I’m gonna ask the doc if he can just put in a zipper this time instead of stitches in case we have to do this again. Prayers keep going for all of you. Keep laughing, smiling and loving those around you. Mary

  144. Mary Micheel's avatar Mary Micheel says:

Rita, you are in my prayers every day, as is Kathryn. I will add Apryl to the list. Be assured that the Lord is there for you and will keep you strong as he has so far. GO TO HIM AS OFTEN AS YOU NEED TO AND BE BOLD IN ASKING FOR HELP! He himself has commanded us to do so. He loves you. He loves Kathryn. He has promised you the gift of eternal life through his son, Jesus Christ. He keeps his promises. Let me know if there is anything I can do. Mary

Hello to all of you. It was wonderful to see you at church a couple of weeks ago. We had a great time with Mike, Sarah, and the boys. Isn’t it great when you like your grown-up kids? Thanks be to God for his guidance and care as they were growing up. I know how proud you are of both your kids. Kathryn you looked great. Thanks for hanging in there. You continue to make many people happy. Prayers continue daily that your pain will decrease. Take care and remember that your Savior is with you at all times and loves you soooo much. Mary

  147. Mary Micheel's avatar Mary Micheel says:

Rita, Kathryn and all, just letting you know you are always in my prayers and not a day goes by without request to ease your pain, both physical and other. Needed the reminder asked by Pastor White, “What is there here on earth that is better than the promise God gives of what heaven will be like?” No more pain, no sadness, He will wipe away all tears…
Just the absence of the ravages of sin will be such a glorius relief for so many. And to think, that is just the beginning of what He has in store for us…Keep the faith. Hold each tightly. Continue to support one another. Don’t ever hesitate to ask for more support from anyone. Remember how much you are loved by so many. Continued prayers and blessings. Mary

  148. Mary Micheel's avatar Mary Micheel says:

Good to hear that Kathryn is pushing on. Will pray that someone near you will be willing to do the treatment. Will also pray for Apryl…that God will grant her some peace as she struggles through this difficult time. Please pray for my Caleb and his Mom, Sarah. She told me this morning that he has RSV again. These are the times I really hate being so far away. And after the terrible news of the day, I really want nothing more than to just hold those babies close and not let them go! You hold that prescious Kathryn close. I truly hope those 20 little children in Conn. knew Jesus and will be spending Christmas in His heavenly choir. A blessed and love-filled Christmas to you all. Mary

FROM RITA—YOU ARE AN AMAZING BLESSING MARY!! I’M PRAYING FOR SARAH AND CALEB- WE ARE SO THANKFUL TO HAVE YOUR PRECIOUS FAMILY HERE WITH US AND THEY ARE IN OUR PRAYERS DAILY! MAY “THIS THING THAT HAS HAPPENED” (luke 2:15) BE FRESH AND VIVID TO YOU THIS CHRISTMAS!! MERRY CHRISTMAS- I LOVE YOU.

  149. Mary Micheel's avatar Mary Micheel says:

We went to the Jesus Cares Christmas Service this afternoon. I have not been to one since I workrd there 7 yrs. ago. I still knew most of the students and some remembered me. The joy they have sharing their faith in word and music is just as exciting as it was years ago. Kathryn, can you picture 15 adults with disabilities playing Away In A Manager and Silent Night with tone bars? They are so proud. They know why that Christchild came for all of us. They know they are sinners needing forgiveness. And, they know they have a God who loves them so much that he gave his one and only son to take their place. They know that they are just like you and me, forgiven sinners who will spend eternity in heaven with that loving god. Lots of smiles, hugs and kisses exchanged today with a group of people we have brought to Jesus. It was a good day. Merry Christmas to some very dear christian friends. Virgil and Mary

  154. Mary Micheel's avatar Mary Micheel says:

What a wonderful letter from your friend , Francine. She certainly captured what many of us have not been able to put into words. Her understanding of the need for prayer for Kathryn from all of us is so right on And, the rest of you special Macdonalds and the way you have supported her through this ordeal is remarkable. I look forward to seeing you in March when we will be in Richmond, so I can give you a real hug, Rita. Lord’s blessings to you all. Mary

I am so sorry to hear that things have been so incredibly difficult these last several weeks. I had hoped for some relief for you all. My heart is breaking. Please know you are in my prayers… We love y’all!

  157. Mary Micheel's avatar Mary Micheel says:

I am so sorry you are again suffering so. I truly know how terrible the unbearable pain is. So we will go to that throne and pray boldly that the lord gives you some relief and gives the doctors an extra measure of wisdom as theyy proceed with their plan. If love were able to erase the pain, Kathryn, it would be gone. So many people love you so very much and many hearts are hurting with you. Prayers and blessings to all. Mary

  158. Mary Micheel's avatar Mary Micheel says:

Dear Friends. Today in Bible Class, the pastor focused on reminding all of us to go boldly to the lord in prayer because just as our earthly fathers take care of us and listen to us, so God will listen to our prayers. And he will answer our prayers. When asking for spiritual blessings, the answer will always be yes. When asking for earthly things, the answer will be yes, no, or maybe…or maybe not now, but in any case he hears and gives us what he deems best at the time. I have had a difficult time this week dealing with KATHRYN’S situation. I know that he knows what he wants to accomplish, but it really struck me hard to see why this is happening. All those prayers, and still the pain. I do know that it is important to pray that the Lord keeps Kathryn’s faith strong, and he has done so. I will continue to pray for this and will increase the prayers for a reduction in pain. Part of the frustration is in not being able to do anything concrete. I’m sure you feel that frustration all the time. Rita and Dave, be sure to take care of each other. Know that prayers go out for you also. We will see you in a few weeks. Blessings and Prayers. Mary

Dear Mary, your honest sharing is always a wonderful encouragement that I am so thankful for. Your encouragement and prayer for us is such a gift- thank you so much!!

I spent time with the same topic recently and it gave me similar pause as well. But I realize that we are in good company with so many other sufferers that God loves.

God answers all the prayers offered for Kathryn in that God constantly makes His help evident and then He does the work in our hearts and minds that brings peace concerning suffering.

I love remembering the question John the Baptist asks Jesus from prison. The response that Jesus gave John leaves us knowing that Jesus is THE Savior and so has the power to heal Kathryn AND that He also has the almighty wisdom to know when to heal her. Matthew 11

Even so, I cling to His instruction to ask for anything in His name and His reassurance that our joy will be the fullest possible! John 16:24

Your love and prayers for Kathryn blow us away and leave us so grateful!! Love and hugs- see ya soon 🙂

  159. Mary Micheel's avatar Mary Micheel says:

Today Pastor talked about our inability to comprehend God’s love for us. Isn’t it wonderful to be stumped by somethig so wonderful for a change? To know he’s with us at all times, cares for us at all times, loves us at all times, forgives us at all times. I know that I’m not capable of doing any of those things all of the time. It was nice to take communion after the wonderful realization that my God does not expect that of me and that he has provided salvation for all who believe. What wonderful words, “My grace is sufficient for thee.” Hope that things are going a little better for you all. Prayers continue. Love and Blessings! Mary

  160. Mary Micheel's avatar Mary Micheel says:

Thought of all of you today as I was at the pain clinic to get my prescriptions renewed. I am so very fortunate and thankful that the medication still works most of the time. I continue to pray that Kathryn will have some relief as you progress with her new treatment plan. We need to rely on God’s promises as we know that he keeps them all. We know he has a purpose for ordering our lives the way he does, even though we often can’t see it. Take care. Prayers and Blessings to all. Mary

  161. Linda Cheeley's avatar Linda Cheeley says:

Our prayers will most definitely be covering Kathryn over the next seven weeks. God promises in Deuteronomy 31 that “He Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” In our church last week, we saw an outright absolute miracle from God so we know He is still on His throne. I am praying for God to steal the show again with Kathryn. We love you all!

  162. Mary Micheel's avatar Mary Micheel says:

It was wonderful to see you, Rita and Dave. The Lord surely holds that wonderful child in His Hands! She has accomplished so much with the medication! I know how difficult it can be and I,m rooting for her each and every day. Will continue the prayers for the Lord to keep her safe and give her the strength to make these weeks fly by for all of you. Thinking of you all and sending my love. Mary

  163. Mary Micheel's avatar Mary Micheel says:

Hello Dear Friends. I went shopping this morning and had the radio on. The song “Blessings” by Laura Story came on. I immediately thought of you, especially Kathryn. Couldn’t get it out of my head so looked it up on Youtube when I got home. It is so touching. The words “remember our home is not here”. Easter is our reminder of what awaits all of those who believe, all who have been given the wonderful gift of god’s grace. Free to us from a loving god! Today we remember our Lord’s last night with his disciples. The pain and suffering he endured for us in the garden and on the cross to defeat Satan…and his glorious resurrection. All to let us know what awaits each of us. It was a good day to also watch the video “Who Am I” by Casting Crows (w/lyrics). This lets us know very clearly who is responsible for our salvation. A Blessed Easter to you all! Mary

  164. Mary Micheel's avatar Mary Micheel says:

A Blessed Easter to all! After arriving at church at 6:00am to stir the hot milk for our five Nesco roasters full of bacon and eggs, going to 2 church services with the Easter breakfst sandwiched in between, running home, changing clothes, eating a bite, and runnuing downtown to the Milwaukee Repretoire Theatre for a musical show, I’m pooped. Happy to just relax tonight. Had several times to think of you and remember you all in special prayers. Kathryn, I pray that the Lord will support you through the next few weeks to effect your change in treatment. You are so fortunate to have such wonderful people who are supporting you. And, you have many others of us you don’t even know who care deeply and keep you in our prayers. Again, a Blessed Easter to all. Mary

And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.” All of you can certainly be described as persistent, having wonderful christian character and great hope. Hei Kathryn!
I do not speak English very well, because I’m from Finland, so apologize for any spelling errors.
I was happy when I found this blog. My sister was also CRPS. My sister is only 14 years old. He developed CRPS, when he fell on his hand. Just like CRPS were not enough awkward, my sister lost her sight a year ago. Even though my sister is sick and blind, he knows how to enjoy life. The writings of you know how to enjoy life. I wish you strength and all the best. You know this for sure myself, but it’s never going to give up.
CRPS is never easy and it may never get better, but with it you can learn how to live. It is encouraging to read your posts, as you know, you’re talking about. I really hope for you that you keep going to fight against pain and trying to live a normal life as far as possible. some people see only the disease, but too small percentage of people will see all that is good. Enjoy your life!
Oops! Became a long post, sorry. Greetings from Finland!

    Greetings, Maria.

  188. Mary Micheel's avatar Mary Micheel says:

Happy to hear that the pain relief continues. Prayers also continue. I guess we need to let Maria from Finland know about the joys that Jesus has brought to Kathryn’s life. I hope she reads Mike’s sermon(s) and the Holy Spirit uses this as a means to help her sister. We, the WELS, do work with folks in Scandinavia and I’m sure there is someone there who could work with her. I’ll certainly include them in my prayers. Think of you all daily and continue to ask for God’s Blessings. Mary

  189. Mary Micheel's avatar Mary Micheel says:

Sounds like the ordinary “little” things the rest of us don’t think much about will continue to bother Kathryn. But, it’s wonderful to see that she responded to some “regular” treatment. Rita, I learned last weekend at our eigth grade reunion for Madison Lutheran School that my best friend lives outside of Richmond and runs a religious retreat called Stillwaters. She has been a chaplain in almost all the hospitals and some hospices in Richmond. Her name is Ann Hogan and I will be keeping in touch with her from now on. The Lord works in mysterious ways! About 12 out of 31 of us made it to the reunion and we all agreed that those years were extremely valuable in shaping each of us. Getting a base in God’s word, memorizing both scripture and hymns were not work, but a worthwhile part of our education. Hopefully, I will be able to introduce her to you the next time I come out. Prayers continue for sweet Kathryn and all of you daily.
    Mary

  191. Hi Kathryn! Your mom left a sweet message on my blog, and gave me your website, so I wanted to say hello 🙂 what a small world that you guys are friends with our cousins, the Caparelli’s!

I just briefly skimmed through your blog and it seems we have traveled down some similar paths and symptoms. I really hope your ketamine booster this week helped to alleviate your pain, if not, I always find a multi-day booster series helps a lot 🙂

RSD is a horrible disease, and it is bigger than you, me, our families and our doctors… but it is not bigger than God! He is faithful, even when we feel like we’ve fallen too far for Him to catch us… He somehow always does.

If you ever need someone to talk to who ‘gets it’, don’t hesitate to email me- hopeforjessica7@gmail.com

I am praying for days with less pain for you, and a cure to this monster of a disease for us all ❤

    God bless you!

Could not help thinking of you all on Sunday during the sermon. The text was: Genesis 18:20-32. Theme was “Pray like Abraham: Humbly, Persistently, Knowingly. It certainly reminded me of how we have been and will continue to pray for Kathryn. How is her pain level? Is there anything new or special we should be taking to the Lord in our prayers? We wish you all well Blessings. Mary

Hi Kathryn. I hope you are feeling as well as can be! We are a group of 3rd year medical students in the UK who are doing a research project on CRPS/RDS. We’ve just been reading your story and learning alot, thank you! We have to present our poster on the topic to the rest of our university (University of Bristol) in a couple of weeks and we really want to make the illness better known. We were wondering how we could get hold of the RDS bands that you feature on your blog? Are they produced by yourself?
    My email is jd_1991_@hotmail.com
It would be so helpful if we could get some bands, other students and professors would defintiely be mpre attracted to our poster if it was slightly more interactive!
    Thanks alot.

A few thoughts from our bulletin today…Genesis32:22-30 Jacob’s wrestling with God at Peniel is an excellent example of how the Christian may be bold in his prayer life. Psalm 121 The Lord’s eyes are always upon us and His hand always beneath us. We can always look to Him for help in time of need. Luke 18:1-8a Christ’s parable of the persistent widow encourages us to never tire of bringing our prayers to the Lord’s throne of grace.
Encouragement to keep those prayers coming, remembering nothing is too much to ask for with a God who is ever-present with us. Prayers and Blessings to you all. Mary

I’ve been thinking of all of you much lately, accompanied with lots of prayers. Know that that tiny babe born in the manager came to this earth as a human to fulfill the promise His father made to us. He came to be a true man to experience all the pain and agony we humans do, to truly become our brother and know what we feel…so, just as we are in pain, he knew that pain and was willing to complete the task he was sent to complete. How much love did he show us? A great deal of a deep, caring love like no other. He will continue to keep us and sustain us through this life until he takes us to be with him in a place far better than anything we can imagine. God Bless you and keep you in the New Year, faithful friends. Love and prayers, Mary.

  218. Mary Micheel's avatar Mary Micheel says:

Rita, what a blessing to have such a beautiful, young woman as your daughter. The Lord has shown you and Dave the right way to bring up this brave young woman. Prayers continue for all of you. I know how terribly hard it is for Kathryn to carry this burden. At this time of the year she must have a much better understanding of the agony her Savior had while in the Garden as He prayed, “If it be Your will, take this cup from me.” And, she is using her burden to work for good, rather than being bitter and angry. I have been sick for the last eight weeks and just starting to feel better. I cannot imagine the pain our Lord suffered when taking on the punishment for the sins of the world, But, I believe we can appreciate the agony He suffered in a way that others may not. But, thanks be to God for giving us that Savior to allow us to freely spend eternity with Him. Kathryn’s gift of music will surely be welcome there. Easter Blessings to the MacDonalds. Mary

    Dear Mellissa,
This is Rita MacDonald, Kathryn’s mom. I am so sorry that I haven’t checked this site for messages in so long. And mostly I am so sorry that you are dealing with CRPS!!

Yes, for Kathryn mold remediation mattered greatly to energy, and function. Lessening mold in her environment helped a little with pain but the biggest pain relief came from Neridronate. I’ve read your site and as you know, Neridronate is not available yet in the US outside of a study. Our miracle happened a year ago when Kathryn got into a Neridronate study and got the actual drug not a placebo. Without Neridronate taking down the CRPS pain, she would be too sick with pain to do all the other work we’ve done this year and to have the success she’s had this year.

Reading your site it looks like you know that CRPS probably starts in most people due to an autoimmune body, a body that inappropriately responds to irritants like mold, bacteria from ticks, certain foods, drugs etc. Doctors advised that the first irritant we lessen in Kathryn’s environment was mold. The difference was remarkable, I got a piece of my daughter back when we mold remediated but with an autoimmune body there is so much more to do.

During the last 6 months Kathryn has started supplements (with Dr. Gordon Crozier,FL) that help her body respond to irritants more appropriately, and she is working hard under a local docs care isolating foods that may matter to her health (sounds like you have already done that work). Also during the last year Kathryn responded well to a device called Quell and to Electromagnetic Pulse Therapy. Also, before Neridronate and all the treatments I just mentioned she was never able to EXERCISE consistently. And we all know that exercise can be a nightmare, treatment and cure for CRPS (I like your yoga bands!)

Know that now that I have seen your message I am praying for you in trust to continue to find answers! with love and blessings, Rita.

Hello. I am debating seeing Dr. Crozier next month. Did you have a good experience and do you recommend him? Thank you.

    Dear MacDonalds,
It has been a while since I have written. I just went to both the Nephrologist and my new PCP. My kidney function has returned to what it was when I was hospitalized. Have to drink more and had a few med changes. I will see them both in 2mos. I have an EGD scheduled for April 12, a week before we come to Virginia. No answers for the gagging, no appetite, weight loss. My red cell count is low so I have very little energy. Rita, I told my PCP that I use the BREATHE and it works well for my breathing. He said it is time for there to be studies done around use of essential oils…I am giving him the link for Kathryn’s Pages as he wanted more info on Kathryn’s story. A little good coming out of misery? One more MD who is open to new information! I will see you all in a few wks. and am looking forward to it. Prayers continue that you keep finding more things to help Kathryn as she warriors on. Blessings to you all. Love, Mary

    Kathryn, Rita, and Dave,
Thank you so much for the wonderful visit and words of wisdom. I now have an appointment with the head of Integrative Medicine for Aurora Heath Care. Not until June 26th, but she only consults now and my PCP is also on board. My new room is a work in progress…have a new bed, fan is in operation 24/7, everything has been wiped off or washed in special allergen killing products, carpet has been treated, men coming Sat. to look at the basement and give a quote to remove stuff and possibly do mold remediation. I have thrown up a few times since coming home and the weakness is back with a vengeance. Will keep working on things, thanks to your encouragement. Kathryn, you are a gem. Love, Mary

Dear Mary, YOU GO GIRL -THE FIGHT IS ON! I’m so thankful to hear about all that you are doing and we pray for quick progress and relief for your symptoms!!
My next thought is frustration that, like Kathryn, you weren’t guided early on by your doctors to consider your autoimmune body’s response to household mold as a probable culprit to your symptoms, Grrrrr!! Well we are going to tell others what we’ve learned as God enables us. And we’ll continue to pray that many more American clinicians train toward an Integrative approach to medicine. You’re on my heart sweet lady. ~Rita

I am wonder how she is doing lately. I am headed to Italy for the treatment as I am in the early stages of the disease and am hoping to stop it in it’s tracks. Thank you for this blog it is helpful . My biggest question is any long term side effects from the medication ?
    Blessings on you .

Hi Cathy, apologies for delayed response! We check this site so rarely, Kathryn is doing better and we’re so very thankful!

Did you get a Neridronate treatment yet? How are you doing?

Yes Neridronate played a sizable part in helping Kathryn. Originally Neridronate lowered her pain from a 8-9 to 3-4. That didn’t last too long and now her numbers typically float between 5 and 7. Kathryn says for her, Neridronate’s best gift is less spikes in pain.

The treatments that we last listed on this blog are still a vital part of her improvement. In Kathryn, without those treatments, the improvement we got from the Neridronate would not hold.

So each of these are also vital to her improvement:

    Quell device

CBD oil (recent and very effective addition)

    Elimination diet

Eating foods according to information gained from elimination diet

    Mold remediation in home

    Love and blessings!
